Bloodthirsty By Flynn Meaney

BloodthirstySome vampires are good. Some are evil. Some are faking it to get girls. Awkward and allergic to the sun, sixteen-year-old Finbar Frame never gets the girl. But when he notices that all the female students at his school are obsessed with a vampire romance novel called Bloodthirsty, Finbar decides to boldly go where no sane guy has gone before--he becomes a vampire, minus the whole blood sucking part. With his brooding nature and weirdly pale skin, it's surprisingly easy for Finbar to pretend to be paranormal. But, when he meets the one girl who just might like him for who he really is, he discovers that his life as a pseudo-vampire is more complicated than he expected. This hilarious debut novel is for anyone who believes that sometimes even nice guys-without sharp teeth or sparkly skin--can get the girl.

We have all been through those awkward teen years where we did not know where we fit in in society itself.  The jocks, the geeks, the stoners, the emos, the list goes on and on of where does one fit in. This is the very same dilemma Finbar Frame dealt with every day.  Having a twin brother who is very popular and a talented jock to par did not help the matter.

Finbar was the compete opposite of his twin.  A pale tall lanky teen who is awkward in every way.  He kept to himself and tried at his best to avoid any and every social gathering possible that his twin tried to get him to tag along.  Using any and every excuse under the sun literally.

Due to a recent move, Finbar's mother realizes he needs to go to a public school since he did not fit in at an all boy private school, in hopes he can make more friends.  Separation from his ever so popular jock brother would make things a lot easier, and have his own individuality as well.

Through an unfortunate allergy to the sun and natural social awkwardness, he is mistaken for a vampire on the train ride home from the doctors.  At first he was completely appalled, but started to notice he was more and more being surround by girls his age lusting after a book called "bloodthirsty." The wheels started turning.  Finbar realizes he is very caring, mysterious, pale, can't go out in the sun, he can act like he does not care about social standards.  This is what girls want? He can be a vampire!

Everything went to plan as Finbar wanted, but he had not planned on finding a girl who had liked him for him. This creates a dilemma for Finbar.  Popularity, girls, social activity, everything Finbar has ever wanted was all happening but he didn't plan on her.....Oh Finbar!!!

I absolutely loved this book!  It was so cute and a nice change of pace. Instead of an actual vampire. We had someone pretending to be a vampire.  It was such a light read and very fast pace. A perfect young adult book.  It something I would even have my eight year old god daughter read.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
